Marie Proper, age 95, of Clarence, MO, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Samaritan Hospital in Macon, MO.
She was born August 23, 1917, in Ten Mile, MO, the daughter of Ben Franklin and Ermie Massey Cook. At times she rode a horse to school, other times she roomed in Clarence in order to graduate from Clarence High School in 1936. She then taught at Bohannon School, but met Elmer Proper and was married in Bevier on March 27, 1937. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1996.
Marie is survived by one son, LeRoy Proper and wife Lynda of Clarence, MO; three grandchildren, Bob Proper and wife Kim of Clarence, MO, John Proper and wife Erin of St. Joseph, MO and Mark Proper of Macon, MO; four great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Bailey of Clarence, MO and Katelyn and Elle of St. Joseph, MO and two sisters, Dorothy Rockwell of Lee’s Summit, MO and Juanita Clem of Pittsfield, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Elmer and one brother, Harlan Cook.
Marie was a member of the Maud Christian Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was an excellent cook.
Most all of her friends passed on before. . . but she has one very special friend, Laverne Dicks.
Private family graveside services will be held.
