Jerry David Olson, age 68, of St. Louis, MO, died at 9:20 pm on Monday, February 25, 2013. He was born on January 5, 1945 the son of J.D. and Shirley Olson. On May 5, 1968, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Bevill. She preceded him in death on December 11, 2005. Jerry is survived by sisters, Judy Jones (Darrell) of Hannibal, MO, June McDougall of Detroit Lake, MN and Carole Olsen and husband Bob of Tucson, AZ; one brother-in-law Gary Bevill of Bethel, MO and several loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and sisters Sharon Smith and Linda Richardson Job. After graduation from Monroe City High School, he served in the United States Army. For the past 26 years, he was employed as a truck driver for Smart Logistics in St. Louis, MO. As a young teenager, Jerry spent endless hours listening to country music and teaching himself to play the guitar by ear. He loved to get a group together and play for hours. He enjoyed time spent hunting and target shooting on the Bevill farm. And of course, he took joy in visiting with family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO with burial to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Shelbyville, MO. Pastor Dan Fuller will officiate. Pallbearers will be David Smith, Danny Bevill, Justin Bevill, Michael Jones, Travis Jones and Daniel Dunn. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home in Shelbina from 12:30 to 2:00 pm on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
